Anti-Bullying Policy

Wolves wants every player to feel safe, welcome and included. We do not tolerate bullying of any kind, whether by players, parents, coaches or anyone else involved with the club.

What bullying is

Bullying is behaviour that deliberately hurts, frightens or excludes someone, usually more than once. It can be:

Physical: pushing, hitting, or taking or damaging belongings.
Verbal: name-calling, threats, or put-downs.
Emotional: leaving someone out, spreading rumours, or humiliating them.
Online: unkind or threatening messages, sharing photos or screenshots without permission, or excluding someone from group chats.
Prejudice-based: targeting someone because of their race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or background.

Adults can bully too, for example a coach or parent who humiliates a player or puts them under unreasonable pressure.

What to do

If you are being bullied, or see it happening, tell a coach, the Club Welfare Officer or a trusted adult as soon as you can.
Parents and carers should report concerns to our Club Welfare Officer, Andy Penniceard: 07956 125207, andy@wtrc.co.uk.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.

How the club will respond

We take every report seriously and deal with it promptly and fairly.
The Club Welfare Officer will speak separately to the player being bullied, the people involved and any witnesses, and will keep parents informed.
Actions may include: an apology, a meeting with parents, closer supervision, changes to groups, a warning, suspension, or removal from the club.
We will support the player who was bullied, and help the player who bullied to change their behaviour.
We keep a confidential record of what happened and what we did.
If bullying raises a safeguarding concern, we follow our Safeguarding Policy.
